‘Jackass’ star Steve-O arrested in Hollywood after climbing large crane with inflatable orca whale to protest SeaWorld

PicturePhoto: NBC Los Angeles’Jackass’ star Steve-O was arrested Sunday night after climbing a crane above a Hollywood, California construction site. Emergency crews responded to the scene around 8 p.m. with several fire trucks and ambulances unsure of the stuntman’s intentions. The LAPD initially believed that the man atop the crane was a suicidal jumper. They eventually learned that Stephen Glover, better known as Steve-O, was the man who climbed the tall crane with an inflatable killer whale and a message attached to protest SeaWorld. Police say Glover had also set off fireworks from the edge of the structure at one point.

Steve-O announced this past Saturday on his facebook page that he was preparing for a stunt that would be live streamed at 7 p.m. and probably get him in a lot of trouble.
PictureGlover began his descent down from the crane around 9 p.m. and was taken into police custody shortly after. The stuntman is currently being held at LAPD’s Hollywood substation.

LAPD Lt. Michael Ling confirmed that Stephen Glover was arrested and is expected to be booked on suspicion of trespassing, setting off explosives without a permit, and conspiracy to commit a crime but investigators are still determining what charges apply.

The 41-year-old animal rights activist asked his supporters on facebook  to help bail him out late Sunday night.

This isn’t the first time Glover has been in trouble with the law involving his dismay for SeaWorld. Last year, he was charged with a traffic infraction when he defaced a freeway sign in San Diego. He uploaded a video to YouTube last August showing him climbing a freeway sign and attaching the word “sucks” to a SeaWorld sign.
