"The CIA has not released anything on its website about UFOs since 1997 when Clinton's CIA Director James Woolsey ordered a review of the CIA's role in UFO investigations. This new development of posting positive UFO articles in my opinion is an action approved by President Barack Obama."
The motive behind why the CIA decided to reveal these documents last week is unknown at this time.
Gary Heseltine, retired UK police detective and editor of UFO Truth Magazine said,
"It's good that the CIA acknowledges its involvement in the UFO subject. The documents released are interesting and certainly show that the CIA took the subject of "flying saucers" very seriously and to this day still do however given the CIA's somewhat 'murky' past one never knows their true motive."
Stephen Bassett, executive director of the Paradigm Research Group, who currently campaigns for the US government to admit aliens are visiting Earth, thinks both events could be tied together.
Bassett told the Mirror UK,
"The recent postings to the CIA website could well be strategic on the part of the agency. It appears the CIA used the revival of the X-Files franchise as a convenient time to remind the public the agency has, in fact, engaged the extraterrestrial presence issue in the past."
In the CIA's news release, they created two top 5 lists of documents that X-Files characters Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully could use to prove there is a scientific explanation for UFO sightings.
